Enhancing Guest Experience to Encourage Shopping Time
Role: Educator / Experience Contributor
Environment: Retail Floor – Lululemon
Problem
Families frequently visit the store together, and younger children often become bored while parents shop or wait in fitting rooms.
This creates a challenge for both guests and educators:
Children had limited ways to stay engaged in the store
Parents sometimes felt rushed while shopping
There was an opportunity to create a simple experience that made shopping easier and more enjoyable for families.
Solution
I designed a set of custom coloring pages to entertain younger guests while their parents browsed the store or used the fitting rooms.
The concept focused on creating a simple, accessible activity that could be easily offered by educators.
Key elements included:
Printable coloring pages designed for kids
Crayons placed in fitting rooms for easy access
Educators offering the activity to families while they shopped
The goal was to create a welcoming environment for guests of all ages while giving parents more time to explore the store.
Outcome
The coloring activity quickly became a popular experience for visiting families and helped create a more welcoming environment for guests shopping with children.
Children remained entertained while their parents browsed the store or used the fitting rooms, allowing families to spend more time comfortably exploring products.
Due to the positive response, the store began ordering boxes of crayons to keep in fitting rooms alongside the coloring pages, making the activity a consistent part of the guest experience.
Families even began returning to ask for the coloring pages, demonstrating how small, thoughtful design touches can improve the in-store experience while supporting a more relaxed and enjoyable shopping journey.
Creating Community Through Run Club Engagement
Role: Graphic Design Support / Community Engagement
Environment: Retail Community Events – Lululemon East Hampton
Problem
Run club events are an important way for stores to build community and encourage guests to engage with the brand outside of traditional shopping experiences.
However, increasing awareness and participation in these events requires clear communication and visually engaging promotional materials that capture attention both in-store and online.
There was an opportunity to strengthen awareness of local run club meetups and encourage more guests to participate.
Solution
I designed promotional materials including posters and flyers to help communicate upcoming run club events and encourage community participation.
The designs focused on:
Clear event details (date, time, meeting location)
Bold visual layouts that aligned with the brand’s active and energetic identity
Messaging that emphasized inclusivity and community
These materials were displayed in-store and shared with guests to help spread awareness about the events.
Outcome
The promotional materials helped increase visibility for run club events and encouraged more guests to learn about the store’s community offerings.
Run club meetups became a space where guests could:
connect with other runners
engage with the brand in an active setting
build relationships with the store community
The initiative reinforced how thoughtful design and communication can support community engagement and experiential retail.
